NEW IMPROVED CASE: The Case does NOT need to be heavily shaped. You can even finish the case without any polishing machine. To do this rub the case with P400, P800 and then P1200 wet and dry paper. Keep the worn P1200 paper and use to polish the case. Its now very easy to finish one of these cases, it just takes time and a little work.
Each Case comes with the following (essentials the case will not work without them)
The Nightwatch 6152 Case is "Fully Machined" from a solid block of Stainless Steel not "cast". (casting is less expensive, slightly less accurate and has a slightly softer metal.)
Above are the basic parts that are required to build a project. The reason that a Case Back and Holder have been included in this set is because these parts "Work Together" so that when the movement is added everything aligns correctly (ie stem runs through the center of the stem tube, important).
To complete: You will need a Plexi, Lug Bars, Stem Tube and Crown and Crown Guard. A Magnetic Movement Cover is also available (to be used with a Solid Case Back). These parts are available on this site under "Nightwatch 6152 Case Parts"
Advice about adding other parts or your own parts?
Plexi: You need an authentic size plexi (available on this site if you dont have one)
Case Back (included): The Case Back is specially made. The Standard Jackson "will not" align correctly with the other parts.
Holder (included): The Holder has been specially made for this case. A standard Jackson holder may not work
Crown Guard: The 6152 Crown Guards on this site (not Jackson) do work on this case (align correctly)
*Dials 240: The 240 cal 3 piece dials work correctly and align flush with the bezel
*Dial 618/616/6497/3601 non sub dial): The new resin dial on this website will align and "leave a gap" between the dial and bezel
Stem & Tube: This case requires a M4 Threaded Stem Tube (available on this site)
Lug Bars: 1.6 max is recommended although 1.8 max bar thickness are available on this site
Lugs: Lugs are drilled undersize (1.5) to allow you to use whatever size bars you wish, its recommended you drill your lugs to 1.7 or 1.8mm.
Engraving: Pantograph Engraving between lugs is available on this site.
What you need to do?
The Case is Machine Finished. You need to polish and also add small shaping in areas. The authentic 6152 cases were filed or shaped by hand after machining, its called Hand Finishing (expensive watches are still made this way today). A little extra metal has been added to the important areas of this case that will enable shaping close to the authentic vintage case. Step by Step instructions will follow (with images).
