The Original 3646 Dial History (see links below):

Genuine Vintage Panerai Dials were Pantograph engraved (CNC engraving was not invented during this time period). Pantograph Engraving is skillful, the machine is hand operated and the operator controls the direction and depth of cut created by the cutting tool. The engraving should not be perfect unlike CNC (too neat), genuine dials had small imperfections often created by the different engravers that engraved the dial.

1) Dial machined from a solid aluminium bar
2) Dial Indices machined
3) Dial Surface Textured
4) Dial surface anodized
5) Dial text (optional) Pantograph engraved
6)  Internal plexi machined on a lathe from a solid bar
7) Plexi recesses machined
8) Backing plate cut from brass
9) Dial feet soldered to backing plate
